PS the ‘ratchet’ insight was cool, along with some others. Thrive. And persevere!

An exceptionally cogent appraisal and (in many ways) extension. I hope you will occasionally drop into the comments community under my blog (http://davidbrin.blogspot.com/ (Contrary Brin blog)) In any event I’d welcome continuing to be in touch.

Sir, from you I take that as high praise. I do read your blog from time to time, I always value your insights. Thank you for subscribing to my little hobby column, and I hope you enjoy it.

Solid, clear-minded, and helpful history lesson and contextualization.

David’s approach is likewise. Agreed as to your “ratchet” metaphor.

Next up: equally clear-minded truth-telling as to the hostile foreign interference and the below-the-’clown show’-surface of what they’ve done to damage our government (at every level, in virtually every state) and our society, mainly by dividing it and impoverishing it.

Try as I have, all appear to be liars, or made to appear to be, so they’ve succeeded in that. If this effort is genuine, you’ll know what to do. If not, …

Thank you for the kind words. Foreign interference is certainly part of the picture - though I'd argue the domestic rot was already there; outside actors just found the cracks and widened them. I write what I see, one piece at a time. Stick around and see if it resonates.

Will do.

The more I learn, the further back the interference goes: centuries (even before the establishment—native population duly noted), and never stopped, dug in deeper over time. Lack of attention to it (no doubt perpetually induced) has been perhaps the primary pitfall for citizens.

The “experts” predicted that the Affordable Care Act would also crater employer-sponsored healthcare benefits. But it didn’t even put a dent in it.

Right? The thing about health care the way the rest of the world does it is, there are 30+ countries doing things in 30+ ways. All variations on a theme. We are the only one that says, ‘Massive health care businesses and their associated bureaucracies can do anything they want. The end.’
